Looking back to last month’s events, we can’t deny that the March 2019 seminar has been extremely successful! We kicked off welcoming eleven new iEMFC students, including our first student from Georgia joining the programme at the very last moment. A pity that there is one student missing on the group picture, but surely great to have them all in the programme!
Apart from new faces, old friends were also joining us in Maastricht as expert speakers and thus was the case with Suzanne van Noppen (FrieslandCampina) and Roger Dassen (ASML).
During her presentation, Suzanne shared the following subjects with the students: Who am I, Introduction to FrieslandCampina, Transformation @ FrieslandCampina, Impact on the business group. It was an open and very interesting lecture on Change management with lots of key learnings. She emphasized that colleagues and own employees are key in a process like this. TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More!
Roger took us all on his journey from Maastricht University to… current destination ASML. In a very lively way, as good teachers do, he asked attention for the following personal and important takeaways to be remembered: Coaching and mentoring, Integrity/Transparancy/Teaming, Self-organize a critical voice, Power of purpose, vision & strategy, and last but not least Adaptive leadership. You could hear and feel the passion for his jobs and the roles he had. Our interpretation of Roger’s wise words would be: without the right content and passion, there is no way up to the top!
During the 32nd edition of the world’s leading art and antiques fair, The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) at MECC Maastricht, the whole city has been bustling with impressive exhibitions, unique theatre and music productions, breathtaking dance performances and special events. Every year it is also the perfect opportunity to taste the unique range of Dutch and international flavours offered by Maastricht. TEFAF Maastricht presents more than 7,000 years of art history, gathered at one fair. So therefore an event not to be missed by collectors, investors and representatives of museums. 275 of the world’s leading galleries from 20 countries display works by Old Masters and antique works of art, as well as a wide range of modern and contemporary art, including jewellery and works on paper.
Reasons enough to offer this visit to our students and they had the opportunity to discover TEFAF on Monday 18 March 2019, the first seminar day. We all learned more about the art highlights during the presentation of Mr. Sven Wiertz, Operations Director of MECC Maastricht. The financial professionals, our iEMFC students, appreciated the art fair visit and know now what to do with their savings!
The seminar’s second company visit brought us to the “Brand Bierbrouwerij” in Wijlre. Our former student Florian Harder (cohort 2016), now working for Heineken in Ireland, flew especially in to be our guide and he gave a presentation on the brewery history as well as current interesting Heineken and beer making details. Well appreciated, but most of all, as you will understand, everyone enjoyed the tasting research part!
