Managing organisations and strategic decision-making requires a thorough understanding of accounting information and the underlying financial aspects. While accounting seeks to facilitate and improve decision-making in general, management control guides and control the implementation of decisions. The area of accounting and control is not limited to financial information but information in general, such as customer needs, employee requirements, emissions and other non-financial aspects that matter for firms.
At UMIO we strive to incorporate current discussions and state-of-the-art knowledge in these areas into our teaching. As accounting deals with the preparation and use of information in general, we also incorporate the latest analytical methods and developments of information technology into our curricula.
